ROLE OF A PEER
MENTOR
Peer Mentors
will act as peer advisors to their mentees. They will discuss issues,
concerns and/or difficulties their mentee(s) is/are experiencing. Mentors
will be responsible for establishing supportive relationships with
participating freshmen. They will provide resource information and
referrals to various campus resources. Mentors will serve as role models to
incoming freshmen by maintaining high academic standards.
HOW TO
BECOME A MINORITY PEER MENTOR?
1.
Complete a
Mentor Application Form.
2.
Call and schedule a meeting with the Coordinator for
Multicultural Programs
at (605) 688-6653.
3.
Successfully meet all requirements highlighted on application
form.
4.
Attend a training and orientation session.
5.
Have a positive outlook & enjoyable experiences at SDSU.
