How to Apply for the *Community Assistant Position
*Formally Known as Resident Assistant
Thank you for your interest in the Community Assistant position and the Department of Residential Life. The Community Assistant is one of the most important student leaders on campus. Consequently, the selection process is educational and thorough in hopes to identify the most qualified and enthusiastic individuals. We hope you to learn about yourself and gain formal interview experience through this process.
Here is what to do:
1. Read all possible information about the position. There is a link on this page for the Resident Assistant General Position Description.
2. You may want to talk with someone about the job – visit with your RA or RHD.
3. You are asked to submit the names and email addresses for two people to serve as a reference for you in your application; we prefer for at least one to be a staff member of the Department of Residential Life. It is important that you contact people to serve as a reference for you and they agree to be a reference for you. Do not submit names and email contact information for people that have not agreed to serve as a reference for you. We will send them an email with reference form to complete and return to us.
4. Complete the application. There is a link at the end of this page for the Community Assistant Application.
5. After completing the application, double check all of the information you provided and click “submit.” Your application will automatically be sent to the Department of Residential Life.
6. BEFORE CLICKING SUBMIT - It is a good idea to print a copy for you to keep.
7. After your application has been received, you will be contacted by a staff member to set up an interview time.

Applications for the Resident Assistant Position are accepted at any time, but deadlines must be met.
For positions starting Fall 2008 for the 2008-2009 academic year, applications must be received by February 15, 2008. Applicants interested in a position beginning Fall 2008 will sign up for an interview time when they turn in their application. Interviews will take place February 20 & 21, 2008.
