Resident Assistant (RA) - The most important staff member for residents is the Resident Assistant. The Resident Assistant is a student representative of the Residential Life staff. This individual is a full-time student who lives on the floor. The RA has received special training to serve residents as an advisor, peer counselor, leader, and resource person for other students. The RA assists students in their adjustment to college life. They also assist in the total operation of the Residence Hall. They are given the responsibility of maintaining an atmosphere which will enable residents to study without interference and enjoy the Residence Hall environment without disturbing others or damaging property. If you have a question or problem, please don't hesitate to contact your RA. If you need an RA and your RA is not on your floor, contact the front desk (by phone or in person). The front desk is staffed 10:30 a.m. till 6:30 a.m. for a total of 20 hours each day.
 
Residence Hall Directors (RHD) - Binnewies, Brown, Caldwell, Hanson, Mathews, Pierson, Waneta Complex and Young each have a RHD who is responsible for that building. These individuals are a professional, full-time University employee who lives in the building. They are typically available 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday in their office located in the residence hall.
 
Assistant Director for Operations and Administration – This person directly supervises the University Apartments as well as the day to day facilities operations within the residence halls.  They are also responsible for overseeing the summer operations of the halls including students, conferences, and the annual Summer Placement Exchange.  Along with these duties the Assistant Director advises the RA Council and the Residence Hall Association.
 
Assistant Director for Student and Staff Development - This person directly supervises the RHD staff and the day to day residential operations.  They also coordinate programming both within the halls and across campus with other departments.  The Assistant Director also works with judicial cases as well as expanding and developing Living Learning Communities within the halls.  Other supervisory areas include opening weekend operations and the RA class.
 
Director of Residential Life - The Director of Residential Life is also available 8-5 M-F and other times as necessary.  However it is best to call ahead to make an appointment to ensure his availability. The Director is responsible for the overall operation and direction of the department’s mission and goals.  The Director’s Office is located in the central office complex in Caldwell Hall, 167 with the rest of the department.
 
Other members of the Residential Life Administrative and Leadership Teams - The Residential Life Office is in Caldwell Hall, 167. It is open 8-5 M-F. The department staff members in charge of staff development, apartments, departmental accounting, housing assignments, maintenance, housekeeping and support services are all located in the central office complex in Caldwell Hall, 167.  If you have questions or concern please contact us in person or by phone and we will do our best to assist you.
