How to Apply for the Community Assistant Position

 

Thank you for your interest in the Community Assistant position with the Department of Residential Life.  Community Assistants are some of the most important student leaders on campus.  Consequently, the selection process is educational and thorough in hopes to identify the most qualified and enthusiastic individuals.  We hope you will learn about yourself and gain formal interview experience through this process.

 

Here is what to do:

  • 1.    Read all possible information about the position.  There is a link on this page for the Community Assistant General Position Description.

  • 2.    You may want to talk with someone about the job – visit with your CA and/or your RHD for more information. 

  • 3.  You are asked to submit the names and email addresses for two people to serve as a reference for you in your application; we prefer that at least one be a staff member from the Department of Residential Life.  It is important that you contact people to serve as a reference for you and they agree to be a reference for you.  Do not submit names and email contact information for people that have not agreed to serve as a reference for you.  We will send them an email with a reference form to complete and return to us through email.

  • 4.    Complete the application.  There is a link at the end of this page for the Community Assistant Application.

  • 5.    After completing the application, double check all of the information you provided and click “submit.”  Your application will automatically be sent to the Department of Residential Life.

  • 6.    BEFORE CLICKING SUBMIT - It is a good idea to print a copy for you to keep.

    7.    After your application has been received, you will be contacted by a staff member to set up an interview time.

    Applications for the Community Assistant Position are accepted at any time, but deadlines must be met. 

     

    For positions starting in January of 2009, applications must be received by December 1, 2008.  Interviews for positions starting in January will take place on December 3-4, 2008.  

     

    For positions starting in Fall 2009, applications must be received by February 13, 2009.  Interviews for positions starting in Fall 2009 will take place on February 17-19, 2009. 

     

    After your application is received, a Residential Life staff member will call you to schedule an interview time.
