Authority - Chapter X
South Dakota Board of Regents
Persons who disagree with and/or wish to appeal non-academic
administrative action and/or contractual relationships with SDSU should
contact the department involved to determine and follow the written
departmental appeal procedure. If such an appeal procedure does not
exist, the student should:
03:01 Within twenty eight (28) calendar days of the date of the
administrative decisions or action in question
03:01:01 place the appeal in writing on a University General Petition
form, and
03:01:02 submit the appeal to the administrator most immediately
responsible for the action being appealed or for administering the
policy or contract in question.
03:02 The administrator will review the petition and either grant the
appeal or deny the appeal. If the appeal is denied at this point in the
process, the administrator will forward the appeal to the next level
supervisor for review.
03:03 If the appeal is denied at the second level of review, it will be
forwarded up the organizational ladder to the appropriate Dean or
Associate Dean. The Dean or Associate Dean will have the final review of
the petition. This entire review process should be completed within ten
(10) working days. If it is not possible to complete the review within
ten working days, the student will be informed in writing of a need for
an extension.
03:04 The President or Vice President shall reserve the right to order a
rehearing at the Dean's level if, in the opinion of the President or
Vice President, new evidence should arise not previously considered by
the Dean, and/or if there is a clear preponderance of evidence against
the determination of the Dean.
03:05 Failure by the student to observe the deadline in section 03:01
will result in automatic denial of the appeal.
