South Dakota State University's Upward Bound program accepts applications and nominations from a 9th or 10th grade student who:

• Is enrolled in Flandreau Indian School, Flandreau High School, Roosevelt High School, Joe Foss Alternative School or Washington High School
• Is committed to attending post secondary education
• Completes the entire application package including requested forms and completes an interview with Upward Bound staff
• Demonstrates a willingness and desire to actively participate in all program activities
• Would be a potential first generation college student (neither parent has a four year college degree) AND/OR
• Meets the family income guidelines established by the federal government
